TAYLOR WITH RESPECT is a Japanese handmade eyewear brand founded in 2017 by veteran eyewear designer Satoshi Waki. The "TAYLOR" in the brand name is inspired by "Tailor", aptly highlighting the brand's objective of developing exquisite eyewear tailored to fit the needs of different individuals, much like a tailor-made garment. At the same time, the entire brand name also expresses the designer's respect for his tailor grandfather and the art of eyewear craftsmanship.
Each pair of glasses is made by artisans in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture. To create custom-fit and comfortable eyewear, the designer has incorporated multiple details into the finished product. One of the most unique features is the Damaged colour aging technique, which creates a strong aged look on the frame surface, adding a vintage, time-worn feel to the retro style. The designer has also focused on Asian face shapes, using S-shaped lines to create flexible temples that provide a good wrap-around effect for the head. The unique T-shaped hinge not only provides distinctiveness but also helps distribute pressure at the joint between the frame front and the temples, while the integrated hinge design increases the precision between components. The nose pads are made of titanium, which is resistant to deformation, and feature an anti-slip film, significantly increasing durability. These multiple details embody the spirit of Japanese craftsmanship, and the quality is absolutely unquestionable.
