TAYLOR WITH RESPECT is a Japanese handcrafted eyewear brand founded in 2017 by veteran eyewear designer Satoshi Waki. The "TAYLOR" in the brand name is inspired by "Tailor," aptly highlighting the brand's mission to develop exquisite eyewear that fits different individuals' needs, just like custom-made clothing. At the same time, the entire brand name also expresses the designer's respect for his tailor grandfather and the craft of eyewear.
Each pair of glasses is meticulously crafted by artisans in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture. To create eyewear as comfortable as custom-made pieces, the designer incorporates multiple intricate details into the finished product. One of the most distinctive features is the "Damaged color" aging technique, which creates a strong aged appearance on the frame surface, adding a timeless, vintage touch to the retro design. The designer has also tailored the design to Asian facial structures, using S-shaped temples to create flexible arms that provide excellent coverage for the head. The unique T-shaped hinge not only provides a distinct aesthetic but also helps distribute pressure at the junction of the frame front and temples, while the integrated hinge design increases the precision between components. The nose pads are made of deformation-resistant titanium, and coated with an anti-slip film, significantly enhancing durability. These multiple details embody the spirit of Japanese craftsmanship, ensuring undeniable quality.
