TAYLOR WITH RESPECT is a Japanese handcrafted eyewear brand founded in 2017 by veteran eyewear designer Satoshi Waki. The "TAYLOR" in the brand name is inspired by "Tailor," aptly highlighting the brand's objective to develop exquisite eyewear that fits different individuals' needs like a tailor-made suit. At the same time, the entire brand name also expresses the designer's respect for his grandfather, who opened a tailoring shop, and for the craft of eyewear.
Each pair of glasses is made by artisans in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture. To create eyewear that is as comfortable as bespoke items, the designer has incorporated multiple details into the finished product. For example, the most unique Damaged color technique creates a strong aged look on the frame surface, adding a time-worn, vintage charm to the retro style. The designer, specifically targeting Asian facial features, adopted an S-shaped line to create flexible temples that provide excellent coverage for the head shape. The unique T-shaped hinges, in addition to being distinctive, also help distribute pressure at the joint between the frame front and temples, and the integrated hinge configuration increases the precision between components. The nose pads are made of deformation-resistant titanium, combined with an anti-slip film, greatly increasing durability. These multiple details embody the spirit of Japanese craftsmanship, and the quality is absolutely unquestionable.
