TAYLOR WITH RESPECT is a Japanese handmade eyewear brand founded in 2017 by veteran eyewear designer Satoshi Waki. The "TAYLOR" in the brand name is inspired by "Tailor," aptly highlighting the brand's mission to create exquisite eyewear tailored to the needs of different individuals, much like custom-made clothing. At the same time, the entire brand name expresses the designer's respect for his grandfather, who ran a tailor shop, and for the craft of eyewear.
Each pair of glasses is meticulously crafted by artisans in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture. To create glasses as comfortable as custom-made items, the designer has incorporated multiple details into the finished product. For example, one of the most unique features is the Damaged color aging technique, which creates a strong aged feel on the frame surface, adding a vintage sentiment to the retro design that evokes the passage of time. The designer has specifically designed the glasses for Asian face shapes, using S-shaped lines to create flexible temples that provide a good fit around the head. The unique T-shaped hinge not only adds to the brand's recognizability but also helps distribute pressure at the joint between the frame front and the temples. The integrated hinge configuration increases the precision between components. The nose pads are made of titanium, which is resistant to deformation, and feature an anti-slip film, greatly increasing durability. These multiple details embody the spirit of Japanese craftsmanship, and the quality is absolutely unquestionable.
