TAYLOR WITH RESPECT is a Japanese handmade eyewear brand founded in 2017 by veteran eyewear designer Satoshi Waki. The "TAYLOR" in the brand name is inspired by "Tailor," aptly highlighting the brand's mission to create exquisite eyewear that fits each individual's needs as precisely as a custom-made suit. At the same time, the entire brand name also expresses the designer's respect for his grandfather, who owned a tailor shop, and for eyewear craftsmanship.
Each pair of glasses is meticulously crafted by artisans in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture. To create eyewear that feels custom-made, the designer incorporates multiple intricate details into the finished product. One of the most unique features is the "Damaged color" aging technique, which creates a strong vintage feel on the frame surface, adding a time-worn, antique charm to the retro style. Designed specifically for Asian face shapes, the designer uses S-shaped lines to create flexible temples that provide a good fit around the head. The unique T-shaped hinge not only adds to its distinctiveness but also helps distribute pressure at the joint between the frame front and temples, while the integrated hinge design enhances the precision between components. The nose pads are made of deformation-resistant titanium, combined with an anti-slip film, greatly increasing durability. These multiple details embody the spirit of Japanese craftsmanship, and the quality is absolutely undeniable.
