TAYLOR WITH RESPECT is a Japanese handmade eyewear brand founded in 2017 by veteran eyewear designer Satoshi Waki. The "TAYLOR" in the brand name is inspired by "Tailor," aptly highlighting the brand's objective to create exquisite eyewear that, like bespoke tailoring, perfectly fits the needs of different individuals. At the same time, the entire brand name expresses the designer's respect for his grandfather, who ran a tailoring business, and for eyewear craftsmanship.
Each pair of glasses is meticulously crafted by artisans in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture. To create eyewear that feels custom-made and comfortable, the designer incorporates multiple intricate details into the finished product. One of the most distinctive features is the "Damaged colour" aging technique, which creates a strong aged look on the frame surface, adding a sense of time-worn charm to the vintage aesthetic. Designed specifically for Asian face shapes, the designer uses S-shaped lines to create flexible temples that provide a good fit around the head. The unique T-shaped hinge not only offers distinctiveness but also helps distribute pressure at the junction of the frame front and temples, while the integrated hinge configuration increases the precision between components. The nose pads are made of deformation-resistant titanium, combined with an anti-slip film, significantly enhancing durability. These multiple details embody the spirit of Japanese craftsmanship, and the quality is absolutely undeniable.
